What a great holiday. I’m always reminded on these rare occasions how very fortunate I am and how very thankful I ought to be. Today, while I’ll be eating freshly sliced turkey, others will be gathered around a bucket of KFC, and others maybe less. Yet, for some reason, that bucket of KFC will be much more meaningful to them than my fresh turkey will be to me. This is a particular feature of the world that I have begun to notice, that is, those with less always see more [value] in things.

We have become blinded by our own abundances and affluence not only in possessions but relationships, not only with each other but with the world itself. We have forgotten our childlike dispositions, always investigating and discovering things anew, always captivated by the smallest of beauties and things seemingly insignificant. This Thanksgiving, and hopefully for the days to come, let us focus our attention on things we have so frequently missed, and fascinate ourselves with rolliepollies, like we did when we were children!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Jon
